Crepuscular Spectacular

I found my favourite fence (so far). The fence separates an area where highland cows roam freely from the public footpaths. The fence can bea opened and you can join the cows... at your own risk!

It’s always great to be back in the forest and witness the power of the sun. Everything gets a touch of gold, the greens come alive, and you can almost feel the textures of the trees. Sometimes it just feels like stepping into a painting,

How fortunate I was to have such wonderful and dramatic conditions during tulip season!

A bench I've photographed before, but not from this angle and not with this light. So here you go!

This was a fun one! Using my manual focus vintage lens, I focused on the center of the plant, creating a natural depth effect with the leaves at varying levels of focus. I like the effect!

From this bench, you can look out over a clearing with centuries-old burial mounds, making for a fascinating—if slightly eerie—view

This trailer sits in the middle of the woods, likely used by volunteers maintaining the forest—as a shelter or a place to rest. On a foggy day, it takes on a mysterious aura.

I was treated to a blissful day of fog and had to try to make the most of it in the forest!

Took the new camera into the woods for the first time. The day started off cloudy, but then the sun suddenly broke through, casting a wonderful light on these trees.

They worked.

Back to some more traditional colours! This is another one of those trees full of a character and a trunk that's nice and chunky!

Back to the forest, taking classic forest shots in lovely golden hour light!

I just can't stop loving trees with wonderfully textured bark that's bathing in golden hour sunlight!

How can you not love the magenta magic this tree is delivering?

Here I was drawn to the contrast between the red flower and the greens it's surrounded with!

How the light fell on the base of this tree was quite unique and I found it worthy of being captured!

If you squint, you can see a burning tree here. I was lucky to get smoke in the background, which came from a barbeque nearby!

I don't really know what to call this flower/plant/bush, I just know it's very pretty!

It's amazing how they made this staircase blend in with nature!

I just can't get enough of trees getting touched by sunlight!

This is just my favourite winding forest path, especially in sunlight!

I finally got one of those "happy accidents" thanks to a slow shutter speed and a bit of motion. I like the result even if wasn't intended.

The forest canopy simply cannot stop the light from dancing around.

This tree is amazing because its bark resembles a cheetah print!

I found a pretty forest scene again, with the sun finding its way through the canopy and touching leaves and trunks seemingly at random.

This is a small tree but it still looks surprisingly tall in this luscious green environment.

Each tree here is unique, especially evident in the differences in their bark.

This particular part of the woods looks stunning and mysterious at dusk. I tried a slightly different type of colour grade here.

I enjoy the challenge of photographing trees without too much overlap. I think I did quite well on this occasion.

Apparently a tree stump can be photogenic too, especially when it's sunbathing!

It's quite the beautiful forest, but it seems every tree is angled differently. I suppose that's what gives the forest its character.

Here I managed to capture patches of light in a darker, more dense part of the forest. It's always interesting to see where the sun manages to shine its beams.

Sometimes a forest scene consists of parallel lines as far as the eye can see!

This is what I like about the forest: there's so much to see, even if some areas are a bit messy. I don't mind. And I don't mind the amazing light either!

The light on this day was really special, maybe even a bit magical.

I experimented a bit with the foreground foliage here, and I like the effect!

I love the abundance of trees, the lighting in this scene, and the way the trees overlap each other.

I've noticed I really enjoy keeping forest backgrounds out of focus, while focussing on a single tree. In my opinion it adds to the mystery of the forest. Definitely a composition technique I will return to!

It's almost as if this tree is hovering mid-fall while being illuminated pleasantly by the sun.

Another wind pump, but this time in magical misty conditions.

A thin layer of ice is preventing this little boat from going about its merry way.

This is one of only a few lone trees in my area, and I think this is my favourite one. I was lucky to be able to capture it in these misty surroundings.

Another foggy day took me through the pine forest and this scene was wonderfully moody!

Some scenes instantly make an impression and I think this is one of them. The tranquility and atmosphere here invite contemplation and reflection, don't they?

I love how this scene is almost abstract. You can just distinguish the fence posts and the tree, but together they create a harmonious composition.

This is my favourite forest path, I really like how it curves slightly uphill. And on a foggy day, it certainly gives off a special vibe.

On this foggy day, there were many compositions to be found. I enjoyed the depth in this particular shot.

On a frosty morning, it's fun to find foliage and plants covered in ice, despite having to brave the cold of course!

The shape of the tree and its split trunk intrigued me. And the sun touching the bark added to the overall scene.

A rainy day in the forest means droplets are everywhere. I found this leaf floating in a puddle and I liked how the droplets were formed here.

The lines in a forest always intrigue me. Tree trunks are fascinating. They're all mostly straight, but each has its own colour and texture. In this particular scene, the diagonal tree caught my attention.

On a muddy path full of crushed, brown leaves I found this single yellow leaf. I find the small damaged bits interesting, so I don't mind the tiny imperfections.

Another one of those scenes where beams of sunlight selectively touch the trees, an aesthetic I've come to enjoy quite a bit!

I found this mushroom in the middle of a path and it was an absolute miracle this one wasn't destroyed yet. I'm glad it was treated with respect, because it's one of the nicest mushrooms I've ever seen. And to top it off, a fly was just launching off of it!

This mushroom has a bit of dirt on it, but in my humble opinion doesn't detract it from being full of character.

These scenes keep inspiring me. I enjoy how the sunlight illuminates the tree trunks and creates patches of light on the forest floor.

This tree received a full blast of sunlight, giving it an amazing golden glow on its trunk.

This white little mushroom is the centerpiece of this tiny landscape. I love the little details that can be found here, including leaves framing the scene, the little spider and what can be seen of its web.

This area is a bit rugged and I really liked the character of this tree.

The wonderful side light here truly enchants the forest, creating a magical atmosphere.

The shadows created here caught my attention, because they appear right between the trees.

This is one of my favourite magical spots where, in good light, the trees, leaves and canopy light up in such a pleasing way.

At first, the most interesting aspect of this scene is the casting of the shadows of leaves on the tree trunks. However, because it was a windy day, it allowed me to experiment a bit with slower shutter speed.

There were some strong sunbeams falling on these trees. On this occasion I did my best to emphasise them in the edit and I like mood in the end result.

This tree has its branches reaching out on one side, as if it's desperately trying to soak up as much sun as possible.

This tree had a blue and a red dot painted on it. Research has taught me that a red dot means the tree may be cut down, but the blue dot means the tree has ecological value and must stay. So in the end, this is a paradoxical tree at the center of a conservation contradiction.

I spotted this leaf among the foliage. It really stood out and I think I managed to elevate its golden tone here. I guess leaf photography is a thing now!

This is one of the picnic tables located in a nearby forest. When the sun falls right upon it, a picturesque scene unfolds.

First time going out in foggy conditions and it was fun and a fantastic learning experience! I went around this pond and noticed the ducks were out and about, so I added them to the frame.

These trees all have their own characteristics. This area is pretty small, but is quite photogenic. This is also the first forest photo I was pretty happy with!
